How DO I Remove Win32/MediaGet?

Is there any method to save my computer? My computer got a Win32/MediaGet Virus infection. I don't know what it is. My friend told me it's a virus and I have to remove it. I know my computer is not safe to use now but I don't know how to deal with it. At this moment, I have to shut it down. Will this stop the virus doing any harm? If I restart the computer, will the virus disappear?

What is Win32/MediaGet?

Win32/MediaGet is detected by antivirus software and classified as a potential unwanted program. Technically speaking, Win32/MediaGet is not a malicious computer virus, but as an ad-support program, the virus does possess quite a lot of annoying traits which may not only interrupt computer users to surf the internet freely, but also decline the PC performance day after day. It redirects the Google and Yahoo search results. Desktop background image is changed due to presence of this application. It changes the browser home page settings. It is responsible for shutting down of system, slow internet performance, time taking in opening the program etc. Due to presence of this application numerous unnecessary pop ups related to this application are displayed in the computer screen. Windows registry settings are changed due to presence of this application. If you identify any of the above problems in the system then it is sure that PC is infected. Manual Removal Guides: 1.Reboot the PC and keep pressing F8 key on the keyboard upon PC startup but before logging in. Hit the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode with Networking" option, and then tap Enter key to enter Safe Mode with Networking.
2.Find Ctrl, Alt, and Delete these 3 keys and then press them together to open task manager to end the process related to this Trojan, the name of the process of it is random.
3.Try to find Folder Options in Control Panel, select the View tab, and then tick Show hidden files and folders and non-tick Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) and then click OK.
4.Open Registry entries. Search malicious files and registry entries related to Win32/MediaGet and then remove all of them.
5. Delete all add-ons related to Win32/MediaGet from the browsers Google Chrome Click on wrench icon-> locate Tools-> click on Extensions-> click on the bin icon or uncheck the items related to Win32/MediaGet.
Internet Explorer Click Tools>select "Manage Add-ons">"search providers">set Yahoo or other reputable search engine as your default one>go to "search results">remove its add-ons
Mozilla Firefox Click on Firefox button-> click on Add-ons-> search for all the extensions of Win32/MediaGet from the list-> click on the Remove button on each line.

In a word, Win32/MediaGet is a risky Trojan virus that is really harmful to the computer system. It makes your computer perform slowly like a snail. The cyber criminals can collect your privacy for profitable or even illegal use.
