I have a lot of pop-ups on my browser recently. So I downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned my computer, it turns out that my computer has a lot of “PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A”. I tried to remove all of them, but it didn’t work. I have done it from the safe mode with networking too, but on the next scan the PUPs are found again, usually at around or just over 500. Is my computer or my personal information dangerous? How do I get rid of this unwanted thing from the computer completely?
PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A Description:
PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A is classified as Potentially Unwanted Program (as known as PUP) that can install on a target computer without any permission and knowledge. It usually refers to malicious browser plug-in and can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Therefore, it can corrupt the targeted Internet browser by installing annoying toolbar and causing browser redirection to bother PC users. This program is also able to change your homepage and default search provider. It even works like adware that can display tons of disturbing ads in all sorts of forms on your screen like pop-up, banner, in-text and link ads. Once you see ads that come out of nowhere, you should definitely not click on them as they will redirect you to a third parties website which may sell unwanted product or even install viruses for you.
PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A can attack Windows computers that include Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Once it is running, it could gather your personal information like browsing history, search queries or most visited sites in order to show you more and more related ads. People who distribute this PUP aim to generate web traffic to third parties websites and collect sales leads. They want to make money from that. Most users have no idea about when and how this threat comes to their computer until MalwareBytes Anti-Malware detects it as a malicious threat. However, PUP removal is still considered as a hard job because it keeps recurring after reboot. To secure your computer, it is suggested that remove PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A manually instead.
Other Corrupted Activities of This Adware Include:
1. This virus slows down your computer speed which makes you in a trouble while opening program and surfing Internet. It takes forever to open a program or website.
2. Antivirus you have installed keeps popping up messages while you are surfing on the internet showing you the computer is at risk but you can’t get rid of it all.
3. This virus will shut down your other anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. And it will also infect and corrupt your registry, leaving your computer totally unsafe.
4. This virus will disable the proper running of many different programs or even disable some functions of your computer.
5. System restore can’t help to remove this adware completely.
PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A is classified as potentially unwanted program that has been published recently and can be found by MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. Once it gets installed, it will be difficult for you to uninstall it from your computer because it won’t show on the control panel (add or remove list). It just hides in the root of your system and perform malicious actions like redirecting your browser to other pages constantly, displaying crazy and annoying pop-up windows, adding unwanted wanted toolbars to interrupt your browsing activities. To avoid unexpected consequences, you’d better get rid of PUP.Optional.BestBuy.A virus as soon as possible.
